The safety of a car seat

A car seat allows you to transport your child safely and comfortably in the car. It's important that your child fits properly in the seat, so you can be assured that your child is properly and safely secured when you're on the road. Your child must be transported in a car seat up to 135 cm tall. To determine which car seat is appropriate for your child's age, seats are divided into different groups. These groups take into account the weight and height of your child. The I-Size approval standard is often used for this. This European safety law considers the child's height in relation to the car seat. This makes it easy for you as a parent to determine which seat is suitable for your child, because the length is the same as your child's clothing size. For example, a group 0 car seat, for the very youngest, is suitable from birth up to a height of 75 cm.

Car seats for all ages

Car seats are divided into groups based on your child's weight and height. This way, you'll know which car seat is right for your child. There are seats suitable for a relatively short period and seats that can last longer because they have a booster cushion and, for example, an adjustable backrest. These car seats grow with your child.

A group 0 car seat is suitable from birth. This car seat can be used up to a maximum weight of 13 kg or a heigh of 75 cm. The advantage of a group 0 seat for your child is that you can easily take it out of the car with your child still inside. Place that car seat on the chassis of a stroller to create a 3-in-1 stroller and effortlessly take your child everywhere! The group 0 car seat is secured in the car using the car's 3-point safety belt or with a seperate Isofix base. This base attaches to the car's Isofix anchor points, ensuring that the seat can be installed safely and securely. The seat is always installed rearward-facing, with your child facing backward. Such a base is also very user-friendsly, as you can quickly and easily install and remove the car seat.

A group 1 car seat is suitable for children aged 9 months to 4 years. This car seat can be installed rearward-facing initially and once your child is big enough, you can turn the seat around and install it forward-facing. A group 1 car seat can be secured in the car with the car's seat belt or with an Isofix base. Some car seats have integrated Isofix, so a separate base is not required.

Car seats that grow with your child are group 0/1, group 0/1/2/3, group 1/2/3 and group 2/3 car seats. A group 0/1 car seat is suitable from birth up to a maximum weight of 18 kg. This seat combines both group 0 and group 1 car seats and therefore lasts longer! The group 0/1/2/3 and group 1/2/3 car seats are suitable for a maximum weight of 36 kg and a length of 135 cm. The backrest of these seats can be adjusted, allowing them to grow with your child. The seat belt can be used up to the age of 4, after that, the regular car seat belt can be used to secure your child. A group 2/3 car seat is suitable for even the oldest children, from 3 years old up to a maximum of 12 years old. Your child can be secured in these seats with the car seat belt. The way the car seats are secured varied by model. Some seats are secured with the car seat belt,some with an Isofix base, and some have integrated Isofix, eliminating the need for a separate base.
