Securely secure the car seat in the car with an Isofix base
An Isofix base is the safest, easiest, and fastest way to secure a car seat in the car. Isofix is an attachment system that sits between the backrest and seat of the car seat. There are two attachment points. The Isofix base can be attached to these points. An indicator on the base ensures that the base is securely fastened.
Group 0 car seats, for newborns, are frequently lifted in and out of the car. With the car seat base, you can easily click the seat onto the base and remove it again without having to worry about seat belts. A base is therefore very user-friendly and makes your life just that little bit easier!
Car seats with an Isofix base can generally be installed in both directions. Initially, after birth and until 15 months of age, you transport your child rearward-facing in the car. This means the car seat is installed rearward-facing. This provides the best support for your child's neck and head in the event of a collision. After 15 months of age, the car seat can be turned around so your child faces forward. A base makes it very easy to rotate the car seat.
Which car seats can be installed on an Isofix base?
Not all car seats can be installed on an Isofix base. Some seats can only be secured in the car using the car's seat belt, while others have an integrated Isofix system, allowing them to be safely installed in the car without a base. The product description of a car seat always indicates how it can be installed in the car.
Most group 0 and group 0/1 car seats can be installed on an Isofix base. Group 0 car seats are suitable for children from birth up to a maximum weight of 13 kg and a maximum height of 75 cm. Group 0/1 car seats are also suitable for children from birth but can be used longer, up to a maximum weight of 18 kg and a maximum height of 105 cm. These seats are adjustable in size, so they grow with your child.
Seats for older children, such as group 1, group 1/2/3, and group 2/3 seats, often already come with an Isofix base and do not need to be purchased separately. Many of these seats can be safely installed in the car without a base, with the integrated Isofix system, or with the included base.
